June in a nutshell!

So here's the rest of June in a nutshell!
-Youth Conference-

Ok this really happened in May but I don't want to start over so I'm throwing it in June! May 27-29th our ward held Youth Conference at Warm Springs in Moapa Valley, Nevada. It is a gorgeous oasis in the middle of the desert and proved to be a perfect location! Our theme was Red Cliffs Recruits (we're the Red Cliffs 4th Ward) and an army boot camp was the theme!

We had everything from an experienced army flight pilot, to the great race, to swimming in the hot spring pools, to floating down the canal. Here I am getting soaked by the Young Men and their leaders! Definitley not a fair fight and I didn't even start it!

We had dating workshops and marshal arts self defense, water fights, frisbee, a cool workshop about overcoming Goliaths in our lives and cool t-shirts and dog tags. I also had the best tent buddy, Juli Jones, she's our MiaMaid advisor and we became great friends on this trip. She's truly a gem and I'd love to be like her when I grow up!

Of course one of my favorite parts was the slide show and testimony meeting at the end of it all. A big high five to all those who planned it! What a success!
-New Windows-
We also got new windows in June and I am in love with them! Here are a couple before and after shots. I didn't think about taking them until after they had the first half of them in woops! So here is a before and after of one of the basement windows!
Before (Goodbye 1982 original windows)

And now After(Hello new energy saving windows)!

Wow! Isn't the difference amazing? We have noticed a great improvement in our utilities and comfort of consistent temperatures around the house. I love that I look out the window and it is so clear it almost looks like there is no window there. The other perk is that after a big storm I don't have a layer of red dirt in my window sill and we are getting some sweet energy saving rebates and tax credits!

Emmett was also adorable and loved to follow the men around as they installed the windows. He would stand behind them with his drill while they used their's!
-Summer Rains-
Nothing entertains us better than a surprise summer rain to splash in!

Then again nothing grosses us out quite like spotting cockroaches!

Ewww Gross!
-Father's Day 2010-
We like to celebrate our daddy everyday but because he is the world's best Father we especially look forward to Father's Day!

Lydia picked out this giant pen to give him as a gift about 3 months before. When she saw it she came running up to me at the store at said, "Mommy I just found the PERFECT Present for Father's Day! Daddy will Absolutely Love It!" Even better was that she kept re-hiding it around the house because she didn't want Dad to be able to find it. When Father's day finally rolled around I couldn't remember where she had it hidden. No need to worry, she knew right where it was and was ecstatic to give it to him! Dan was a very gracious gift receiver and took it to work with him. Then the next time we stopped by his office he made sure he was writing a note with it when we walked into his office and Lydia was so pleased to see that Daddy loved his pen too!

Dan picked out these cute little outfits from Mexico when we were on our cruise. He loves it when the kids wear them! And I love watching him admire them! Dan is truly the best husband and father. He puts all of his wants and needs secondary to ours. He provides so well for our family not only physically, but spiritually and emotionally as well. He is the best example of a faithful and hard working man who loves his family and loves his God. He is so handsome, has the best sense of humor and is the anchor of our family! We LOVE You Daddy!

I think I'll end this post on that note. Dan deserves it! Stay tuned for Emmett's birthday . . .He's now the big #2!
